Mom. Maker. Me - How It All Began

Sometimes the life we plan isn’t the life we end up with. After my last life blew up, I started this one confused, constantly asking why and muttering “It’s fine, it’s all fine” on repeat (spoiler: it wasn’t fine). Honestly? It sucked.
And while I probably could have turned to some form of self-destruction, I did the opposite. I turned to herbs. I started learning how to heal through plants and began sharing my recipes with friends and family. And here’s the wild part — while those remedies were helping my family, I realized they were also healing me.
Over the last five years, I’ve changed, I’ve grown, and somewhere along the way I became completely obsessed with business — building them, supporting them, and figuring out how to make them thrive.
So here’s my story. Hi, I’m Melany! I’m a mom of 3 boys, 3 dogs, 3 cats, a horse I sneak away to visit for my own sanity, and a pile of farm critters who definitely think they run the show. Basically, if it eats, breathes, or makes a mess, I’m the one responsible for it.
I juggle school drop-offs, barn boots, business plans, and the occasional “what’s for dinner?” meltdown (usually mine). My days are a mix of herbal experiments in the kitchen, late-night brainstorming for projects I have no time for, and reminding myself that coffee is, in fact, a food group.
Somewhere between the mess and the madness, I discovered I love building things — not just salves and oils, but businesses, ideas, and communities. That’s how Magick Mixes grew into my heart project and came to life, and why I keep saying yes to more (even when I promise myself I’ll slow down).
I’ve been through the breakdowns, the re-starts, and the “oh crap, what did I just sign up for?” moments. But I’ve also seen how herbs can heal, how community can change everything, and how small businesses can grow when someone believes in them.
So stick around. Keep following to learn more about me, my business, and how we can work together — whether that means finding the right herbal remedy, joining a community that’s rooting for you, or connecting the dots on your journey.
Because at the end of the day, it’s not just my story. It’s about building something bigger — and I’d love for you to be part of it.
